Add text glyphs using canvas coordinates?

Using plot.text(x, y, …) I can add a text glyph to a plot, but here x and y are logical coordinates, so when the plot range changes the text moves around. Is there a way to add such glyphs using canvas coordinates, too, in order to put it always in some corner of the plot, say?

Thanks!

We are currently in the process of adding a Label annotation that can be positioned this way, but it is not in the latest (0.10) release yet.
