Changing a Bokeh model

Hi,

I’m interested in making the Datepicker or the DateRangeSlider widget work again by changing the Bokeh source code. Is it worth fixing at this point or will it be broken soon after due to major changes to Bokeh?

I’m having a problem fixing the Datepicker which I’ve outlined here https://groups.google.com/a/continuum.io/forum/#!topic/bokeh/i3JRVT2_-sQ.

We have a really limited
set of resources ; and so I
don’t think any of the core developers are working on it
in the short term. But if you’re looking to fix it, we’d love a PR
to the main bokeh repo to fix it.

Hi Sarah,

I’m not completely confident that I will be able to fix the datepicker, but if figure it out I’ll do a PR.

I have another question. If I use the BokehJS API, can I avoid using Bokeh widgets but get the same interactivity? For example, I have a plot that uses the text input, checkboxgroup and table widgets. Could I replace all of those UI elements with my own html/css/javascript that is independent of Bokeh’s models?
