Hello,
I see how to close a plot - at least visually - and delete the associated backend (i.e. python) objects.
However, I really don’t see how I can make sure that everything is properly cleanup on the frontend (i.e. JS) side.
Is there a recipe for that?

I don't have any guidance to offer, I'm afraid. This is an area that probably needs some attention, but what is really required (and unfortunately what is absent at the moment) is a JavaScript developer with the right experience to help or provide guidance (or become a new contributor). Anyone who has experience with "bulletproofing" larger/longer-running JS libraries would be extremely welcome and appreciated, please reach out here or on GitHub.
