How to subsample .nc file

I'm not sure what .nc files are (netcdf?) In general you can use other python tools like Numpy or Scipy or others to subsample the data. Or perhaps NetCDF has some capabilities built it? This is not really a Bokeh question, per se. so you might have better luck with this particular question on the other mailing lists, Numpy list for instance.

Here is an example I found that subsamples a given input file based on lat and long, but I have .nc as my input file, how can I subsample it? Link:- https://gist.github.com/bryevdv/c794c8b2d376b3d2cb7d
