How to use GMapPlot? (Google now requires API keys for all Google Maps usage)

Latest documentation has an example that is out of date and does not work:

The error is:

Google now requires API keys for all Google Maps usage

How can I use GMapPlot or any opensource frameworks?

Updated in dev builds:

Thank you for the hint. Using folium in the meanwhile. Are there any plans to support openstreetmap that (as of the time of writing) does not require an API key?

OSM is already supported via TileRenderer. There is an example below on the same page I linked.

Thanks,
