Not suppressing axes labels

I am trying to show an axis label, even though I did set plot.xaxis.fixed_location.

According do the documentation axes labels are suppressed when you do this. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

@GCru “inside” axes don’t display axis labels, just as the docs state. Opffhand, you could manually add a Label inside the plot area near the fixed axis position, or add an extra axis outside the plot but hide the axis ticks and tick labels to get a label outside (but parallel and along the same dimension).

Another option, maybe simpler: You can add an extra Title on the side you want label
