(I’m attending the PyData Berlin and when asking about bokeh and 3D plotting I was referred to the mailinglist. So here I am…)
I think 3D plotting with matplotlib is utterly broken (e.g., multiple surfaces are not supported) and it does not play well with the iptyhon notebook (e.g., no interactive rotation etc.). I’d really like to see proper 3D visualization integrated into bokeh. Are there any plans? General roadblocks? What has to be done?

We are interested in adding some level of 3D support to Bokeh but that is definitely a longer-term effort. The first hurdle is to support a WebGL rendering option to BokehJS. That is being worked on someone part time at the moment, but I can't really give any firm estimates for when it might be ready.
