Plot Background Color (not background_fill)

Hi,

is there a possibility to change the background color of the whole plot?

I know how tho change the background color for the diagram itself, but i have not found how to change it for the “surrounding” area.

My whole web-project is based on black to grey color, so the white diagram looks not very appealing.

thanks in advance

cheers

Hi,

This is in the User's Guide:

  Appearance — Bokeh 3.3.2 Documentation

If there is something that would make this more easily discoverable, please let us know so that we can improve our documentation.

Thanks,

Bryan

now i’m feeling really stupid!
it was that obvious and i was no able to find it… → sorry

If you would like to make it more discoverable, use a different color (something like blue/black) in the docs…
at least that’s the reason i was overlooking this. “whitesmoke” does not seem to be very contrary to normal white.

Thanks for your help

No worries, and don't feel bad either. We do have a lot of docs, I will actually defend that claim, but there is still work to do to make sure people can get to what they need quickly. Hoping to add some more extensive indexing and higher level topic launching pages in the near future.

This is exactly where the auto indexing could be handy I think, a gallery example that changes the border could link to the appropriate place in the user guide.
